PWS House is a house divided into two spaces: one for private residential and the other one for rent. The existing building was built in the late 80s/early 90s and needed further renovation. The owner wanted a Japanese-styled house that accommodates a compact living. PWS House uses a lot of wooden materials. The light-colored wood fits into the rented space that has a more minimalist design. Meanwhile, for the residential side, BASIO chose the Japandi-styled interior since it would go well with the existing wooden furniture.

UG House is a renovated house, and the building itself has been around since the 80-90s. The design theme is Japandi style–both interior and exterior–while still considering the needs of a tropical house and local Indonesian culture. All  activities are focused on one floor, while the area under the attic is used as a multi-purpose space.

AP House is a residential project located in the highlands area of Bandung’s Kolonel Masturi. The site of this project has an unbalanced surface and is limited in space, so we optimized it by dividing the house into three floors. With a minimalistic modern tropical concept, the house’s interiors feature an open plan, so that the indoor area feels more spacious. The area of the house offers a panoramic view of Bandung, therefore we decided to highlight it more through the design of the house’s rooftop.

Inspired by nostalgic childhood, the owner wants to bring back those precious moments through the house. Therefore, we blend tropical modern style and the 80’s. It can be seen on the details such as the railings from wooden material and iron poles. Accommodating the modern style with the 80’s style is very interesting. By planning each area of the house with its every details proved to be an intriguing combinations.

The DD Boarding House optimizes the use of small land by making the first floor as parking and service area. Since the building occupies almost the whole land, we balance it by putting the inner court in order to allow plenty air and sunlight entering the building. The lighting on the inner court has double functions. It lights the inner court’s terrace area as well as a guide leading to the next floor. We also play a little with stairs’ axis, so the interior does not look monotonous.

The three-floor building is a luxurious villa in Bandung. As the land is located in hillside, we design the villa’s space adjusted to the existing sloping land. The wooden material is used on the facade for the back of the villa. The jacuzzi allows the residents to bask in warm water while looking through the Bandung city view.

The owner has a habit of gathering with many relatives. Therefore, there was a need for a space large enough to accommodate that lifestyle. We answered this by creating a flexible central gathering room. We also apply the use of conwood material where this is rarely done in Indonesia. The use of this material is intended to reduce humidity and withstand the temperature of the air in the Lembang highland which is quite cold, so it does not directly seep into the walls of the house.

RR House is an industrial-styled residence with a touch of intermodal container-like ambience. Due to limited mobilization, we did not use the real container. Instead, we learned the  use of a modular container and applied them to the space available. Zincalume is chosen for this project, because it can give industrial style on the facade. We optimized the land area and built two-floor masses. The first floor is intended for public area for artists residencies, while the second floor is a private area. The spaces are compact, but there is still an open area to allow flexibility on the use of both floor.
